Polymer Modified Thinset Tile Adhesive

Description

Tilobond Premium 500 is a polymer modified thinset tile adhesive designed for fixing ceramic tiles in internal areas. It is suitable for both vertical and horizontal applications over cementitious substrates. The product is supplied as a dry mix mortar that requires only the addition of water before application.

Application Methodology

Surface Preparation

Clean the substrate thoroughly to remove oil, dust, dirt, laitance and other bond-inhibiting contaminants.
Use a high-pressure water jet or other suitable cleaning methods if required.
Ensure the substrate is adequately cured to minimize shrinkage cracks.
Saturate the surface with clean water and remove excess water before applying Tilobond Premium 500.

Preparation of Mixing

Mix 3 parts Tilobond Premium 500 powder with 1 part water (by volume).
Adjust water quantity to achieve the desired consistency.
Always add powder into water.
Mix manually or using a mechanical stirrer until a homogeneous, lump-free paste is obtained.
Allow the mix to stand for 5 minutes for polymer dispersion.
Use the prepared mix within 90 minutes.

Method of Application

Spread the adhesive to a thickness of 3–6 mm using a notched trowel.
Apply only the amount of adhesive that can be tiled within 10–15 minutes.
Place the tiles firmly to ensure full coverage on the backside and eliminate air voids.
Maintain uniform joints using tile spacers.
