Single Component Polyurethane Based Elastomeric Sealant

Description

MAXX PU FLEX is a one-component, medium-modulus polyurethane sealant that cures on exposure to atmospheric humidity.

It possesses excellent adhesion to all typical construction materials such as cement based materials, brick, ceramic, glass, wood, galvanized and painted sheet iron, and various plastics.

Uses

MAXX PU FLEX can be used for heavy and light precast panel expansion joints, wood, aluminum and PVC joinery seams, and expansion joints in traditional construction.
MAXX PU FLEX is highly recommended for bonding baked clay and concrete roof tiles.
This sealant has good adhesion without primer on other current materials such as most lacquered metals, polyester, glass, stone, and ceramic tiles.

Can be applied with a hand gun and tooled easily.

Conforms to BS 6920 for the metallic water soluble impurities and is suitable for use in drinking water systems.

Direction for Use

Substrate Preparation

The substrates must be clean, even, dry, free of dust, oil, grease, and any contaminants that could harm bonding.

If the substrates need to be cleaned, use methylethylketone (MEK), acetone, or grease remover.

Apply a primer if necessary.

Check the compatibility of the solvent used with the substrates.

When using solvents, extinguish all sources of ignition and carefully follow the safety and handling instructions given by the manufacturer or supplier.

If necessary, rub down metal surfaces beforehand.

After rubbing down, the surface should be cleaned again.

Allow the substrate to dry after degreasing.

Concrete should preferably be cleaned with a metal brush.

Caulking

MAXX PU FLEX may be applied using a manual or pneumatic gun.

After application, use a putty knife to smooth the joint with soapy water.

This product should be used within 24 hours of opening the cartridge protection; otherwise, the sealant could harden in the cartridge.

Do not apply at temperatures below 5°C.

In cold weather, store the cartridges at 20°C before use.

Avoid any contact with non-cured MS, hybrid PU, or silicone sealants, as well as with alcohols or ammonia during curing.

Cleaning

Tools should be cleaned with MEK or acetone before the sealant has completely cured.

After curing, abrasion is necessary.
